Brexit 9th Anniversary: Britain at last moving in the right direction on Europe

On the ninth anniversary of the Brexit referendum which saw Britain vote to leave the EU, campaigners are urging the UK government to go further and faster on repairing the damage of June 23, 2016.

Naomi Smith, Chief Executive of Best for Britain, said:

“This day weighs heavy in the hearts of millions in the UK who knew that leaving the EU would be catastrophic but for the first time on this most depressing anniversary, we have cause to be optimistic.

“Alongside repeated polling showing that the public overwhelmingly regret Brexit and want closer collaboration with our closest allies in Europe, for the first time since that vote we have a government prepared to do so, however cautiously.

“They are actively pursuing 42 recommendations first proposed by Best for Britain that will begin to repair the damage of 2016 and we’ll keep pushing them to go further and faster.”
