Brexit made UK poorer while Farage claims he was ‘rewarded’

Campaigners have stressed that the side effects of Nigel Farage's disastrous Brexit has "left Britain unquestionably poorer" while making him "apparently richer".

Reform UK Nigel Farage has stated the £5m gift from billionaire donor Christopher Harborne was “given as a reward for campaigning for Brexit for 27 years” in an interview with the Sun.

He is currently facing a Parliamentary standards investigation over the gift.

Naomi Smith, Chief Executive of Best for Britain, said:

“Nigel Farage’s campaign to take the UK out of the EU has left Britain unquestionably poorer, with businesses suffering, public services underfunded, and more of us out of a job - with soaring food and energy bills leaving families struggling to make ends meet.

“He told us Brexit was the medicine, but the side effects made us sicker and, apparently, him richer - thanks to a £5m gift that could fund the average annual salary for the whole of his Clacton constituency almost twice over."
