Chancellor says “the biggest prize” is a trade deal with the EU

Rachel Reeves is correct to argue a trade deal with the EU is "the biggest prize", as campaigners welcome the Chancellor's ambitions to align with the EU on services in addition to goods.

Commenting on Rachel Reeves’s speech at the LSE this evening stating that a trade deal with the European Union offers “the biggest prize” for the UK, setting out ambitions to align with the EU on services Tom Brufatto, Executive Director of Policy and Research at Best for Britain said:

“This is the most significant intervention from the UK government on the prospect of aligning our service sectors with the EU, going beyond just goods. The Chancellor is right to say that “the biggest prize” is a comprehensive deal with the EU. Our economic modelling, carried out by Frontier Economics, shows that the greatest GDP growth - and therefore the best opportunity to tackle the cost of living - comes from aligning on both.”
