Their success has been helped by EU cash. The West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges, including Leeds City College and Leeds College of Building, received over 12.5 million of EU money from 2016 - 2017.
Nobody in Leeds voted for less educational opportunity. Leeds’ colleges and students need to know their education and opportunities are in safe hands. The lack of government commitment on these funds is just one example of politicians failing to deliver a Brexit that works for everyone, regardless of whether they voted to Remain or Leave.
We feel incredibly let down by the PM’s Brexit deal, which falls far short of the promises that were made by the Leave campaign. We believe the people should decide whether they prefer Theresa May’s deal or the deal we have inside the EU, in a public vote. We urge our MP, Hilary Benn, to back this.
