Nathan Gill, 52, of Anglesey, North Wales, pleaded guilty to eight counts of bribery on dates between December 6 2018 and July 18 2019.

Campaigners have described his actions as a "betrayal" and having "damaged public trust".

Cal Roscow, campaigns director at Best for Britain, said:

“Taking bribes from a hostile state is a betrayal of this country. Nathan Gill has damaged public trust and put our national security at risk.

“Foreign influence at all levels of our politics must be investigated and rooted out - and it’s right to ask what Reform UK knew of his actions, and how anyone so morally bankrupt was permitted to represent their party.”
