Campaigners have welcomed Keir Starmer's speech at the Labour Party conference and urged the Prime Minister to "deliver on those words".

During his speech Sir Keir outlined how securing economic growth and restoring pride in Britain was at the heart of his plan to take on Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.
He positioned Labour as the “patriotic party” in an effort to reclaim the UK’s flags following a summer of unrest and far right protests over immigration and asylum hotels.
And the PM used his address in Liverpool to set out his vision for a “new country”, a “land of dignity and respect”, as well as calling economic growth a key “antidote to division”.
Naomi Smith, Chief Executive of Best for Britain, said:
“There was a confidence and authenticity in how Starmer delivered his speech today, clearly more at ease speaking against racism, division and Brexit than echoing anti-immigrant sentiment.
“The challenge now is to deliver on these words, to pursue a closer trading relationship with Europe to grow the economy, enable young people from all backgrounds to travel freely between the UK and EU, and lead us to being the outward-looking and confident country he described.”
