The B word. Boring? Brave? Baffling? Let’s cut the bullshit. We all have our opinions. But what about the day-to-day local impact Britain’s partnership with Europe has on the lives of people up and down the country?
Britain is a land filled with proud traditions, proud communities, proud people. We stand on the shoulders of our parents and grandparents who fought for the safety and prosperity of the continent.
Wherever we stand, we’re never far from a local person or project that makes us feel proud to be British. From an organic farmer in Herefordshire carrying on a long family tradition, to social workers in Blackpool helping vulnerable young people get back on their feet; it’s time to celebrate these unsung heroes and their contributions to communities across the country.
And in the background, helping people and communities move forward, that is where Europe stands.
Now is the time to stand together.
Europe stands with us. Where do you stand?
“Hopefully my work improves the lives of the people who walk on footpaths around the farm, hopefully it’s more interesting to look at, there’s more to see, and fewer fields of mono cropping...it all comes from European support."
"We wouldn't have had the Eden Project without European support. [...] Would it have even got off the ground?."
"[Europe] has supported the participation and training of volunteers to work in our project, without whom we would be unable to keep our night shelter open."
This? This is where we stand,
On our own land.
Our towns and cities, our rivers and streets;
Our shops, our social, our specials, our local.
We stand here with pride;
we shout ‘this here? this here’s mine’.
We stand in the places we’ve built through our lives, generations enduring,
knowin’ every inch of close by.
We stand in our fields.
We stand by the sea.
We with our people, with you and with me.
We stand both feet planted, to weather a storm.
We stand here supported, and never alone.
ACROSS BRITAIN. IN OUR COMMUNITIES.
EUROPE STANDS WITH US.
