Brexit Business Task Force 'far overdue' – businesses need deal

The Cabinet Office has established a Brexit Business Task Force to help businesses prepare for the end of the transition period on 1 January 2021.

The Task Force's first meeting will take place on Thursday 12 November and it will meet every week to discuss the practical steps businesses must take for changes at the end of the year.

Responding to the Cabinet Office's creation of a Brexit Business Task Force, Best for Britain CEO Naomi Smith said

"The establishment of this task force is welcome, if far overdue given the state of business preparedness.

"We are only weeks away from the end of the transition period and businesses are still in the dark over so many of the details of how trade with the EU will work in the New Year.

"First and foremost, they need certainty that their products won't face tariffs when they sell into France, Italy and other European countries.

"This task force is not enough by itself. Businesses desperately need a trade deal and the clock is ticking. The Prime Minister must urge his negotiators to agree one as soon as possible."
