House of Commons shifts from Brexit denial

Campaigners have welcomed new MPs highlighting the issues created by the last government's Brexit deal, which continue stifle economic growth in the UK.

At Trade and Business questions in the House of Commons today, the Trade Secretary and his ministers were inundated by questions from government and opposition benches alike on the negative effect that Brexit continues to have on British businesses.

Questions referenced the issues faced by exporters and SMEs, the farming and hospitality sectors, creative and tourism industries, and even the impact that the lack of mutual recognition of qualifications is having on the maintenance of cargo planes.

Naomi Smith, Chief Executive of Best for Britain said,

“After years of denial and truth twisting, the House of Commons is at long last acknowledging what both the majority of British people and British businesses know to be true - that Brexit has been bad for the UK and continues to cost opportunities and growth.

“The Government can begin to undo this damage by negotiating beneficial regulatory alignment with our largest market including mutual recognition of qualifications and protecting food standards.”
