Responding to the Prime Minister's statement this afternoon, Best for Britain champion David Lammy MP said:

"The government’s attempts to bulldoze through its miserable Brexit deal without asking for the public’s consent is only entrenching division across the country. The Prime Minister should admit that Brexit - as promised to voters in 2016 - has proved impossible and that it is time to go back to the country.

"Without another vote, British politics is fundamentally stuck. There is no form of Brexit that is able to win a majority in the Commons. A People’s Vote is the only way to get a mandate for either a specific form of Brexit or remaining in the EU."
